The VIPs of Negative HP

Game Master Philip Overby

The head boss at Negative HP, Philip Overby, is the former co-host of The Grim Tidings Podcast (with over 100 episodes). He’s interviewed loads of famous fantasy writers such as R.A. Salvatore, Mark Lawrence, Joe Abercrombie, and Steven Erikson to name a few. He’s also a game fanatic, as you can tell from the picture, and has spent thousands of hours playing video games on a variety of consoles, PC games, board games, card games, and tabletop RPGs. He also actively creates his own games which he has yet to fully develop. In addition, he has been a fantasy writer for several years, the highlight being his Splatter Elf series, short stories featuring monster hunters in a grotesquely silly world. His goal with Negative HP is to further expose fans to dark and weird games, books, and any other media he can dig up. As for Negative HP, he is the “face,” and most of the content, be it the podcast, reviews, and other various hooplah, he is the guy.

Grim Gozzoth, the Goblin Bard of Bloodbeak

Grim Gozzoth is the goblin that asks weird questions and probably has a collection of elf scalps in his basement. While Philip handles the podcast talky-talk, Gozzoth is the resident interviewer and writer for Negative HP’s website. He tends to like to make asymmetrical lists that no normal person would make. That’s because he’s a goblin. He also makes occasional appearances in YouTube videos playing old school PC games. When it comes to asking questions Philip is afraid to ask or going into the vault for some old school shit to play, Gozzoth is the man…um…goblin…man.

The mysterious figure that is Fighter/Mage/Cleric/Thief makes rare appearances that usually involve some kind of cryptic announcement. If you see him/her, then most likely some big news is coming down the pipe. He’s also keeps track of all of the Levels and Experience Points for various guests (more on that in a future post). See? Cryptic!

Rotface McMurphy

No group would be complete without a movie/TV critic. That’s where Rotface McMurphy comes in. Since he’s a zombie, he doesn’t mind binge-watching shows or watching documentaries about weird shit that would warp a normal brain. When it comes to the weird, the dark, or anything in-between in a visual format, Rotface brings it.

While this is all for now, keep an eye on the website for the introduction of any new personalities and VIPs. They all have a purpose and all have a goal. The goal being to hit you in the face with dark and weird geekiness as much as possible.
