Finding Comfort in Weird Places

I figured since I did the blitz of blog posts for April, my blogging would slow significantly in May. I was right. I basically dropped off the face of the Earth when it comes to that. I’ve mostly been spending my time trying to figure out Twitter (finding cool people and such).

Recently I’ve been finding more comfort in my writing by just writing. I love writing. I love talking about it. But there comes a point when people have hills and valleys. Right now I’m in a valley. Since I’m working full-time, I find less time to work on my writing and less time to interact with people. It takes a lot of time (maybe why I’ve focused on Twitter; it’s easier to digest in small portions).

As of late I’ve been finding comfort in my notebooks. Nothing like a notebook to keep around to make me feel, I don’t know, warm. As long as I have something to write in, it makes me happy.

That and I’ve taken to putting my love of writing into inanimate objects. For example, Smiley the Slime.

For some reason, just seeing this makes me happy and encourages me to write. Sometimes as writers we feel lonely on our journeys. We just latch onto whatever we can find to make us happy.  I don’t know if this is weird, but I guess I’ve always been a weird person. Writer can be a very ego-centric affair. You spend a lot of time by yourself, wishing for your own success. It’s important to find a group of folks that make you feel secure.

For me, that’s been Mythic Scribes. I’ve found a lot of friends there and I highly recommend it for anyone that loves talking about fantasy writing.

Finding a small group of supportive people is always helpful to our individual journeys. So if you love talking about writing, or just want someone to listen to your ideas, I’m here. Hit me up on Twitter ( I’d love to chat.
