Since I’ve had some interest on sharing fantasy writing related topics, I’m planning to do a one week daily writing prompt challenge in which fantasy stories will be written using a variety of fantasy prompts. I got the idea from Writer’s Digest’s two week Writing Prompt Boot Camp. While I love their idea, most of the prompts seemed to be focused on writing set in real world, modern settings. For this challenge, I want to attempt fantasy writing prompts that will spark your imagination and motivate you to write on a daily basis.
1. How do I share?
Write the story on your website or blog. Post a link here in the comments for the corresponding day. I will post a new entry everyday that highlights the prompt, features my entry, and reminds you to share your story by linking in the comments. If you know of an optional way to share with me publicly, please let me know.
Please label your stories as such:
Day 1: Story Title, Author Name, Day 2: Story Title, Author Name, etc.
This contest is also being offered on the website Mythic Scribes.
However, in order to participate there, you have to have at least 5 posts in order to access the Challenges section. If you do so, you can participate there as well. Writing Prompt Blitz-o-Rama
When the challenge is over, I will read all the various entries. The one I like the best (not including me of course )will receive a $25 gift certificate to Amazon.com. I will also promote one thing (your website, a book you wrote, your blog, etc.) that you’d like me to promote through my blog, social media, pigeon carrier, town crier, or whatever other method. I may be offering 2nd and 3rd place prizes as well depending on how many entries we have. TBA later!
Note: You are NOT required to post every single day, but the more times you write a story, the greater chance of you winning the gift certificate. So if you happen to write one really awesome story in the 14 days, you can still win the challenge. However, if you write 14 stories in 14 days, your odds are much better. It’s up to you!
2. How long do the stories have to be?
Stories can be from 100-3,500 words (a little shorter or a little longer is fine). Since these are daily prompts, I expect most of the stories to be flash fiction, but this is not required.
Challenge is from September 1st-September 14th. The winner will be announced on September 28th.
3. OK, so what are the prompts?
Without further ado, here are the prompts.
Day 1-Dragon Prompt-Write a story in which a dragon is not a fearsome creature.
Day 2-Knight Prompt-Write a story in which a knight loses his or her sword at an unfortunate time.

Thanks and I’m looking forward to seeing what you have to offer! If you’re interested make your participation known in the comments below and please share with your friends, too. This is just meant to be a fun challenge that offers the chance to get a gift certificate as well. So give it your best shot!
And remember, all fantasy, all the time!
